Abstract
As-sintered samples of the HgBaCaCuO superconductors were annealed in flowing argon, flowing oxygen and high-pressure oxygen gases. The superconducting critical temperature, Tc, of the sample increased after annealing in either flowing oxygen or a high-pressure oxygen gas, while it decreased after annealing in flowing argon. These results indicated that the as-sintered samples were in slightly "under-doped" states.
