Abstract

The use of paramagnetic liposomes modified with radical initiators is a new approach for applications to drug delivery systems. In order to evaluate the potentials of these liposomes, we investigated the effect of 2, 2′ -azobis(2,4-dimethylvaleronitrile) as a radical initiator on the fluidity and permeability of model membranes, using NMR spectroscopy. The results are discussed in terms of the number of unsaturated double bonds in phospholipids of liposomal membranes.
