Abstract
A compact-spectrum and interference-resistant digital video transmission system which employs an offset QPSK (quadrature-phase shift keying) modulation scheme and a 32-Mb/s video codec followed by a high-coding-rate and high-gain Viterbi decoder is proposed. The system achieves a signal-to-noise ratio of higher than 52 dB (weighted) and a protection ratio of 20 dB higher against cochannel interference than that of conventional analog FM systems. It can transmit a high-quality NTSC video signal over nonlinearly amplified narrow-bandwidth satellite channels with high-security digital encryption.
