Abstract
Data models are discussed from the viewpoint of knowledge representation, and features of a database management system (DBMS) desirable for constructing a knowledge-handling system on small workstations are examined. The implementation of a DBMS called G-BASE, using a graph data model, is described. This model is based on a labeled directed graph and is suitable for representing complex structures of knowledge.
