Abstract

We describe the design and performance of a dispersion-managed fiber (DMF) whose purpose is to suppress four-wave mixing (FWM) in a wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) system. We fabricated a 40-km-long DMF and confirmed its FWM suppression effects in a 4×10 Gbit/s WDM experiment.
