Abstract
A study was conducted on the development of an electrostatic levitator for neutron diffraction analysis. The apparatus consisted of an electrostatic levitator, a neutron inlet path with Cd slit, a 160° window for the scattered neutrons, a CO2 laser for sampling heating and an optical pyrometer for temperature measurements. It was found that the Bragg peaks were in good agreement with those derived from the lattice data of alumina.
