Development of non-rotating-type centrifugal pump toward an artificial heart

Abstract

A non-roting-type centrifugal blood pump for an artificial heart is described. This pump has a simple disc which does not rotate but oscillates in the pump chamber to generate the fluid rotation. Performance and characteristics of the pump are discussed together with results of output characteristic tests. (from authors' abstract)
