Abstract

The authors present the results of the theoretical analysis on the drift caused by the Faraday effect, which is attributed to the Earth's magnetic field. It is shown that the drift can be suppressed by using a polarization-maintaining (PM) optical fiber and reducing a special twist component in the sensing-fiber loop.
