The dual and wide band operation of internal planar antennas for wireless Local Area Networks (LAN) was described. The need for a wide band internal antenna with a low profile, compact size and light-weight was realized for a personal computer (PC). The characteristics of the proposed dual band inverted-F antenna, input impedances and radiation patterns were calculated using an electromagnetic simulator. The proposed antenna was found to be suitable for application in the fields of wireless LAN systems and mobile communication systems, since it was operating broadband at 2.45 GHz band and 5 GHz.
