Abstract

This paper describes the fundamental development of joint techniques, especially regarding mass-fusion splice and multi-fiber connectors. Using these techniques, a field trial in Tokyo was carried out. There was a total of about 1500 splice points. An average splice loss of 0. 09 db was obtained for the mass-fusion splice. These techniques are found to be applicable for practical use.
