Formation of free-standing micropyramidal colloidal crystals grown on silicon substrate

Abstract

A study was performed on the formation of free-standing micropyramidal colloidal crystals grown on silicon substrate. After thermal bonding, the colloidal crystals were lifted from the substrate for observation. It was found that this type of crystal formation is suitable for batch production as well as for handling a single pyramid.
