Abstract
A GaAs 8 multiplied by 8 matrix switch LSI for high-speed digital communications services, such as high-definition (HD) TV, has been fabricated. The switch LSI with fully ECL-compatible interface and minus 5. 2/ minus 2. 0-V power supply voltage has successfully switched a 1. 2-Gps signal. The power consumption of the LSI is 2. 4 W. Pulsewidth variations occurring in the matrix switch circuit have been effectively reduced within plus or minus 80 ps by utilizing a compensation method that uses cascaded gates. This GaAs 8 multiplied by 8 matrix switch LSI can be used for cross-connect systems, video switchers for TV studios and future broadband ISDNs, including HDTV services.
