Abstract
An anticorrosive Mg-Al layered double hydroxide (LDH)-containing magnesium hydroxide film was formed in situ on a large-size Mg alloy AZ31 using an environmentally friendly steam coating method. The film had a thickness of ca. 80 m. The corrosion resistance of the Mg alloy film was investigated in a 5 wt% NaCl solution by electrochemical measurement and immersion test, and superior corrosion resistance was demonstrated.
