Abstract

Several kinds of technique for constructing first stage subscriber loops were investigated. The star network was adopted for fundamental line configuration. Simple cable laying techniques were developed, using a shaft drive winch with slipping mechanism. A non-airtight overhead connection box was developed for connecting overhead optical cables and drop cables. Using these techniques, a field trial was carried out in 1980. Designed performances and workability for the developed techniques were confirmed.
