Abstract
We have measured the magnetic field and the levitation force of bulk Y-Ba-Cu-O superconductors as a function of their levitation height which was controlled by the magnetic field generated from the Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O superconducting magnet. The height dependence of the levitation force could well be explained in terms of the field gradient in the sample and radial component of magnetic field. Comparative study of three bulk samples with different dimensions showed that the diameter was more important than the thickness for the enhancement of the levitation force.
