abstract = "We reported on the self-localization of autonomous outdoor mobile robots based on detecting the edge of pavement in camera images. The detecting technique of utilizing the difference in color between the edge and pavement was proposed and verified, to realize edge detection that is not affected by the sunshine condition of pavement in the captured image. The experimental results showed that the self-localization based on the edge of pavement in camera images is useful for outdoor mobile robots.",
