Abstract

An optical method to reconstruct finite amplitude ultrasonic waveforms from light diffraction spectra has been investigated. Distorted waveforms due.to nonlinear propagation of the finite amplitude ultrasound are determined by measuring the asymmetry of the diffraction spectrum.
