Optimal pulse patterns of six-phase voltage source PWM inverter for double three-phase wound AC motor

Abstract

This paper has proposed a method to derive a double three-phase wound ac motor by a six-phase inverter using interphase coupling reactors. The optimal pattern to be used for this inverter-motor system has also been proposed. It has been demonstrated theoretically and experimentally that both the motor voltage and current waveforms are improved greatly. Waveforms of inverter output voltage and current also are improved very significantly even if the modulation index is larger than unity. The proposed scheme makes it possible to absorb low-order harmonics produced by dead time by using interphase coupling reactors.
