Abstract
An experimental study on the performance of solar stills has been conducted under the actual insolation at Yokohama, Japan, for a period from June to December, 1979. The measurements have been carried out both for a single roofed basin type solar still and for tilted wick type solar stills. The measured performance was then compared with the results obtained by a theoretical analysis of the heat and mass transfer processes of the solar distillation systems.
