Abstract
Optical transmitters using an injection-locked Fabry-Perot laser diode (FP-LD) are attractive for access and local area networks. An FP-LD must be strictly temperature controlled because of injection locking and this is one of the problems to overcome for practical use of these transmitters. In this paper, two-wave injection method for relaxing the temperature control is newly proposed. We first show the proposed method can widen the allowable temperature range experimentally and then discuss influences of the second injection light on transmission properties both experimentally and theoretically.
