Sound distance localization using virtual environment

Abstract

In this paper, attention is focused on the quantitative understanding of the role of sound intensity which is considered to be one of the most important cues for sound localization with distance. By using virtual environmental display system, experiments were successfully conducted to clarify the relation between sound intensity and apparent distance from the sound source.
