Abstract

This report describes the mechanical properties of mudstone, in particular the results of triaxial compression tests, creep tests and cyclic loading tests performed over a wide range of confining pressure and strain rate. Strength-deformation characteristics are considered under these stress conditions during a wide range of loading duration. The material tested was a fully saturated mudstone having unconfined compressive strength of about 30 kgf/cm**2 . All tests were conducted under the consolidated undrained condition.
