Abstract

The perpendicular magnetic anisotropy of X/Fe (X = Pd, Pt, Ag, Au) multilayers have been studied theoretically from first principles. It is predicted that the Pd/Fe, Ag/Fe and Au/Fe multilayers exhibit perpendicular anisotropy. Comparisons with the Co-based multilayers are also made.
