1.6 μm band optical time-domain reflectometry (OTDR) using a heterodyne detection technique is reported. Through the simultaneous use of a Raman fiber amplifier (RFA), an OTDR dynamic range of 11.5 dB was achieved with a spatial resolution of 5 m.
