In order to know the plastic deformation behaviour at fatigue crack tips, a new electrochemical method combined with a source wave analysis has been developed. This method provides dynamic measurements of the fresh bare surface creation which occurs at a crack tip. This is achieved by deconvolution calculations of the repassivation current at the fresh surfaces. The fresh surface creation rate increases non-linearly when the stress intensity factor increases linearly. It has also been found that load ratio does not affect the crack tip plastic deformation behaviour.
