N2 - AC susceptibility measurements have been carried out on YBaCuO prepared by the quench and melt growth process. The temperature dependence of the real component, χ′, and the imaginary component, χ″, of the susceptibility does not indicate the presence of weak-link regions in the sample. The superconducting transition width of χ′ is very narrow and only a single peak of χ″ is observed as opposed to bulk sintered materials. The observed relationship between χ′ and χ″ is well qualitatively explained in terms of Bean's critical state model.
