Analysis of driving sound of 1.5T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) device in case of slice positioning

The MRI examination is necessary and indispensable in the medical diagnosis. The generated operation sound is large at the image obtaining. The testee is pointing out dissatisfaction of it. The noise level is called 100dBA or more. This examination room was a strong magnetic field environment, and the noise level was not investigated enough. The reason is that measuring instrument breaks down when approaching the MRI device to measure it. In this report, the measurement result of the MRI driving sound using the non-magnetic microphone under the strong magnetic field is shown. MRI of GE Yokogawa medical system "SIGNA HORIZON LX 1.5T" has the gradient magnetic field of 20-70mT/m or less. The noise levels at some image obtaining were measured with this device. The maximum noise level of slice positioning was 102dBA. MRI of Philips Medical Systems "INTERA 1.5T" has the gradient magnetic field of 20-150mT/m or less. The noise levels at some image obtaining were measured with this device. The maximum noise level of slice positioning was 109dBA.
