Consideration of driving area expansion for Flux Switching Motor with Variable Flux Magnet

This paper shows a novel Flux Switching Motor structure with the variable flux magnet which has low coercive force. A driving area can be expanded by changing magnetization state, however, a lot of magnetizing current is necessary. The proposed motor is analyzed with finite element analysis and can reduce the magnetizing current by combining the variable flux magnet and the permanent magnet. In addition, the driving area is compared in case of the series type magnet arrangement, the parallel type magnet arrangement, and the hybrid type magnet arrangement which is combined series and parallel types.
