During continuous slab casting, a bulging occurs between the supporting rolls due to ferrostatic pressure. This bulging may cause the centerline segregation and crack defects in slabs. Hence, it is necessary for engineers to predict the bulging behaviors and to understand the effect of mechanical conditions on bulging. In the present paper, we propose three models on the basis of finite element method: elasto-plastic, elasto-creep, and dynamic creep models. Comparing numerical results in elasto-plastic and creep models, we find that stress conditions have less influences on bulging in transient creep.
