An extended design procedure for digital lattice filters (DLF's) is presented. The DLF's are considered to be the wave flow representation of cascaded unit element filters. Hence, the design procedure utilizes Richard's theorem, and one free parameter is introduced. This parameter is determined to reduce the sensitivity. For all-pole transfer functions an optimal means of determination is proposed and applied for rational transfer functions. The resultant DLF's are found to be less sensitive compared with the conventional designs. The sensitivity is reduced further by an optimal selection of the internal circuit for a two-port adaptor.
