N2 - Large-area gold seed arrays were patterned by filling closed-ended nanoholes on anodized aluminum oxide (AAO) templates with colloidal gold seeds using a centrifuge at various rotation speeds and times. The microstructures of gold seeds, AAO membranes, and AAO membranes with gold seeds were characterized by transmission electron microscopy. Annealing treatments were performed in a vacuum chamber and TEM observations confirmed that the gold seeds exist separately in the nanoholes in all samples annealed up to 900°C.
