High-field magnetization and other physical properties of Ce 2T3X5 compounds (T=Pd, Rh and Cu; X=Si and A1)

We have synthesized the new ternary compounds Ce2Pd 3Si5, Ce2Cu3Si5 and Ce2Rh3A15 that have the orthorhombic U 2Co3Si5-type of structure. Measurements of the magnetization and other physical properties have been performed on Ce 2T3X5 compounds up to 30 T at 1.5 K and in the temperature range from 2.0 to 300 K. Ce2Pd3Si5 and Ce2Cu3Si5 undergo a transition to the antiferromagnetic state at TN = 7.8 and 4.4 K, respectively. On the other hand, in Ce2Rh3A15 no magnetic transition occurs down to 1.8 K. The highest magnetization values per Ce atom of Ce 2Pd3Si5, Ce2Cu3Si 5 and Ce2Rh3A15 are 0.96, 0.92 and 0.50μB at B = 30 T, respectively.
