抄録

Published studies reporting main organic pollutants associated with the presence of humans (bioeffluents) are summarized. The differences between pollutants emitted from various body parts are illustrated. Of particular interest are differences between bioeffluents that are emitted through skin (dermally-emitted bioeffluents) and those that are detected in human breath (exhaled bioeffluents). The former contains aldehydes that can cause odor and other unwanted sensory effects. The present data can be used to guide development of solutions allowing effective control of body odor.
