N2 - Past studies1) that evaluated the performance of air conditioners used various air control logics, including investigation of "downsizing" when selecting capacity specification of air conditioners. As a result, downsizing of air-conditioning systems was possible if the system capacity was selected based on loads, including the thermal insulation of the building, rather than based on room-size. Second, we tested subjects (adult men and women) to evaluate the effectiveness of air conditioners. As a result, a balance was enabled between energy-saving and thermal comfort, because systems operated within their capacities, even if they were small. Studies were also conducted with a thermal manikin to provide quantitative evaluation of the effectiveness of air-conditioning systems. There are some evaluation methods for such systems. For example, air control system, subject's sex, age, and clothing type with the CFD. Only under ideal conditions, the thermal manikin is used.
