N2 - In nowadays knowledge-based society, the knowledge and innovation are considered as the core-competence of the regions. In rural areas, in order to realize its leaping development, building the regional knowledge network is essential and causes great attention in academic field. As one indispensable element in the knowledge network, researchers emphasized the leadership's function in the organization. Through one case study of poverty alleviation in Western China in detail, this paper suggests that leadership have important effects on creating knowledge vision, knowledge learning, creating and dissimilation, as well as building knowledge applying platform. The implications of the findings along with some potential practical applications are also discussed in the end.
