A virtual haptic push-button is a popular means for controlling computer applications in virtual environment. The sensory evaluations of virtual haptic push-buttons were carried out to investigate the relation between the impedance parameters of them and the operational feelings in order to design virtual switches comfortable to operate. A force-reflecting interface device called 'SPICE' was used in the experiments. The operational feelings were rated by semantic differential method, and were decomposed into two factors, 'evaluation' factor and 'stiffness' factor, by principal factor method. Then, the characteristics of virtual push-buttons which was highly appraised were found from the relations between the factor scores of each virtual push-button and its impedance parameters such as stiffness and initial load of spring, and damper viscosity.
