Short-ranged maximum power point tracking algorithm for series connected photovoltaics in partial shading situation

Photovoltaic (PV) technology has increased its usage significantly due to its operation which contribute no harm towards environment. However, its efficiency strongly depends on the irradiation whereas less irradiation causes towards energy efficiency. Shadows from Partial shading situation contributes degradation toward photovoltaics (PV) technology, making less generated energy. The maximum power point tracking (MPPT) which used to control the PV system's to maintain the operation at the highest power might fall due to more number of local peaks when shading situation occurs. In this research presents alternative method called 'Short-ranged Maximum Power Point Tracking' which has been studied and developed to be integrated with tracking system in order to perform in shading condition. Case studies indicated degrees of shading are investigated and its efficiency is proposed.
