抄録

A variety of splicing techniques is required for realization of optical subscriber systems. This paper describes fundamental research that has gone on regarding splices and connectors, especially in respect to mass-fusion splices and multi-fiber connectors. A field trial of these techniques was carried out in Tokyo. A total of about 1400 splice points was tested, and average splice loss was 0. 09 db for the mass-fusion splices.
