The superconductivity in (Pb/Cu)-"1222" cuprates, (Pb, Cu) (Sr, Ln)2(Ln, Ce)2Cu2Oz (Ln=Sm, Eu, Gd, Dy and Ho), has been found to be strongly dependent on the oxygen content as well as on the species of Ln ion. While the samples with Ln=Sm, Eu, Gd and Dy prepared in O2 at an ambient pressure exhibit superconductivity, those with Ln=Ho required post-annealing in O2 of a high pressure to become superconductors. It was likely that the ionic radius of Ln3+ and oxygen stoichiometry were strongly related to each other and both played important roles in the occurrence of superconductivity in the (Pb/Cu)-"1222" compounds.
