Temperature-controlled tailoring of Jc-B properties in the Nd-Ba-Cu-O system

It has been found that fine dispersion of Nd rich Nd1+xBa2-xCu3Oy clusters takes place in the NdBa2Cu3Oy matrix when Nd-Ba-Cu-O superconductors are melt processed in a reduced oxygen atmosphere, which leads to a dramatic increase of flux pinning. The amount of Nd-Ba substitution depends on the growth conditions, and therefore it will be possible to control flux pinning through the control of processing conditions. In the present work, we report the modified melt-growth technique which offer the possibility of controlling the flux pinning and thus Jc-B properties in the Nd-Ba-Cu-O samples.
