T1 - Texture analysis of melt-textured and polycrystalline YBa2Cu3Oy using EBSD

N2 - We applied an electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) technique to determine the texture and individual crystallite orientations on melt-textured and various polycrystalline YBa2 Cu3 Oy (YBCO) samples, doped with several Alkali metal additions (KCIO3, K2CO3 and Rb2 CO3). The EBSD analysis on melt-textured YBCO reveals a direct interplay between the crystal orientations of YBCO and the Y2BaCuO5 (Y-211) particles. The Y-211 particles do not show any texture, but certain orientations of the Y-211 particles enable an homogeneous growth of YBCO. From the measured data, individual misorientations and the orientation distribution functions are obtained for all samples studied.
