The angular distribution of desorbing N2 in N2O dissociation on Rh(110), Ir(110), and Pd(110) was studied using angle-resolved thermal desorption. The N2 emission was explained to be due to decomposition of N2O molecules oriented along the direction, in which a nascent oxygen atom provided a surface parallel momentum to desorbing N2. N2 showed four desorption peaks in the range of 110-200 K.
