Vortex pinning by mesoscopic defects: A way to levitation at liquid oxygen temperature

In an attempt to increase remanant supercurrent density in a (Nd0.33E0.33Gd0.33)Ba2- Cu3Oy superconductor by a long-term ball milling of the inserted secondary phase, it was possible to reach outstanding Jc values of 192 and 110 kA/cm2 at remanent state and 3 T. Microstructure analysis by DFM and TEM revealed the presence of a new type of particle, 20-50 nm in size.
